LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially depraved. This may be a very difficult or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug use to numb these feelings. Someone that is LGBT may not feel comfortable in a traditional treatment program amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same challenges they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT program provides an environment which can be free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehab counselors problems which must be resolved so that they can recover. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab can help clients repair relationships with their family members, in case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This circumstance is an extremely common trigger for drug abuse, and it is a good example of something could be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often simply want to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and build confidence in order to lead a wholesome life without any drugs and alcohol.
