A group home for someone who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continual support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Instead of sending people who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar place, a group home can help offer an acceptable environment to help sustain stability within their lives and still have counsel and support within reach around the clock. Residents in the group home could be involved in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home to be able to at some time live on their own not in the group home.
