Criminal justice client rehabs can be considered as being a significantly better option than incarceration or significant fines for those who have been convicted of any sort of alcohol or drug related crime. For example, somebody who has been found guilty of driving drunk of alcohol or drugs may qualify to obtain rehabilitation services because of their problem as an alternative to serving time in jail. The judge might order that the individual receive rehabilitation, either alone or together with other sentencing. First-time offenders specifically in many cases are given the opportunity to select a criminal justice client rehab rather than other sentencing, and it is well-advised they benefit from it if it's a choice. The concept behind criminal justice client rehabs is it is far more effective and efficient to invest effort and time into treatment than punishment. Much research has been carried out to find out how effective this strategy is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the individual returns or not to criminal justice system following rehabilitation. All indicators appear to be quite positive, and criminal justice clients who experience treatment have better possibility of remaining out of the system following rehab.
