Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days per week. This is helpful for those who have just completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which offer treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehab alternative.
