Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which deliver treatment to handle both mental health and addiction concerns at the same time. Dual diagnosis is an extremely common situation for those involved in substance abuse, as people who have mental health disorders frequently medicate themselves with alcohol and drugs to experience some form of short-term respite from their disorder. Within a dual diagnosis rehab, rehab counselors can help men and women using a detailed treatment plan all geared towards restoring and replenishing mental, emotional and physical health while addressing drug abuse problems. Offering a safe and secure environment is essential to ensure dual diagnosis clients can feel comfortable and remain undistracted from circumstances that may compromise their treatment plan and progress. Rehab counselors will continue to work to identify environmental factors in the client's life such as negative people in their lives or any other things that must be addressed in order for the person to remain mentally stable and sober t once they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehab which will help them develop more effective coping mechanisms so that they are able to better deal with life circumstances well if they depart dual diagnosis rehab as opposed to returning to drugs as a possible answer.
