Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services part-time each day or a few days weekly. This is helpful for individuals who have just completed a much more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small amount of clients. For a person with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment programs which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial treatment alternative.
