TRICARE is medical insurance that is provided to individuals in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the need to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehabilitation services to cope with alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, and also rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People who have TRICARE will obviously be asked to get a prior approval before partaking in any type of rehabilitation service, which is often organized using a regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient facility is the preferred treatment choice, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in this center per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are particular limits as to the length of time a TRICARE member can remain within an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which may be very useful, as it could help include family members in the healing and process of recovery.
