Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. People that choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis each day or several days weekly. This can be very helpful for those who have recently completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facilities which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous treatment choice.
