TRICARE is medical insurance which is provided to members of the military of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the necessity to offer rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a variety of treatment services to cope with drug and alcohol dependence such as detoxification services, along with rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Those that have TRICARE will of course be required to get a prior authorization before taking part in any type of rehab service, which is often arranged using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program is the favored rehabilitation option, TRICARE covers a three week period or one inpatient stay in such a program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits as to just how long a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which may be very beneficial, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery. No member of the military should fight this battle alone, and there are skilled treatment counselors standing by to help you today.
