TRICARE is medical insurance that is provided to people in the military of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the necessity to offer treatment to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a variety of rehabilitation services to deal with alcohol and drug dependence including detox services, and also treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Those that have TRICARE will obviously have to get a prior authorization before taking part in any sort of rehab service, which is often organized using their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient facility could be the preferred treatment option, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this particular center per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits about how long a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which is often very helpful, as it can certainly help include family members in the healing and process of recovery.
