A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug abuse is a place which offers continuous support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Instead of sending individuals who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home can help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. Residents in the group home may be taking part in treatment services while in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside of the group home to be able to at one point live independently outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent option, however it is a feasible short term option for those who want to get their lives back together.
