People who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and seen as socially unwanted. This may be a very difficult or painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug use to alleviate these feelings. Somebody who is LGBT might not exactly feel comfortable in a conventional rehab program amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing within their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment which can be free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which need to be resolved so that they can recover. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab can help clients repair relationships with their family members, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is usually the case. This circumstance is an extremely common trigger for substance abuse, which is a good example of something could be handled in treatment. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted within their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and build confidence to enable them to lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
