Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which deliver rehabilitation to address both mental health and addiction concerns concurrently. Dual diagnosis is an extremely prevalent circumstance for people involved in drug and alcohol abuse, as those that have mental health disorders often medicate themselves with drugs and alcohol to experience some type of short-term relief from their disorder. Within a dual diagnosis rehab, rehab counselors will help people using a detailed treatment plan all targeted at restoring and stabilizing mental, physical and emotional health while dealing with drug abuse issues. Providing a safe and secure environment is vital so that dual diagnosis clients can feel relaxed and remain free from distraction from things that may compromise their treatment plan and progress. Rehab counselors will continue to work to identify environmental factors in the client's life including negative people in their lives or other things which must be addressed in order for the individual to stay mentally stable and abstinen t after they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral treatment which helps them develop far better coping methods so they are able to better deal with life circumstances better when they depart dual diagnosis rehab rather than returning to drugs and alcohol as an inferior answer.
