A group home for a person who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continual support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for folks with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. Instead of sending individuals who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. Residents in the group home could be getting involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life set up outside the group home so that they can at some time live on their own outside of the group home. As an example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain employment.
