Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment center. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. People that choose an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or several days per week. This is very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of drug abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For an individual with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab programs which offer treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation alternative.
