Dual diagnosis rehabs are facilities which deliver rehab to deal with both addiction and mental health concerns at the same time. Dual diagnosis is an extremely prevalent circumstance for people involved in substance abuse, as individuals with mental health problems frequently self medicate with alcohol and drugs to to feel some sort of temporary respite from their disorder. Within a dual diagnosis rehab, rehab counselors will help men and women through a thorough rehabilitation plan all targeted at restoring and stabilizing mental, emotional and physical health while addressing substance abuse concerns. Providing a safe and secure environment is key to ensure dual diagnosis clients can be relaxed and remain free from distraction from things which could cut across their treatment plan and progress. Rehab counselors will continue to work to spot environmental issues in the client's life including negative relationships or other things which have to be addressed in order for the person to be mentally healthy and abstinen t whenever they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehab which helps them develop far better coping mechanisms so that they are better able to deal with life situations well if they depart dual diagnosis rehab instead of turning to drugs as a possible answer.
