Self pay is often times the only option for many who need rehab in a drug treatment program for substance abuse but have zero medical insurance. It isn't uncommon for a person addicted to drugs or alcohol not to have private medical health insurance, as it can be difficult to maintain a drug or alcohol habit going while also keeping employment. Individuals may not have private health care insurance in the first place, but might make too much money to be eligible for a Medicaid which would cover certain types of rehabilitation.
