LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This is sometimes a very difficult or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug use to numb these feelings. Somebody who is LGBT may not feel relaxed inside a traditional rehabilitation program amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing within their lives. A LGBT rehab provides an environment which can be totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which must be handled to be able to get better. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family, in case their family disagree with their sexual preference as is often the case. This situation is an extremely frequent trigger for drug abuse, and is a good example of a thing that would be resolved in rehab. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and create confidence to be able to lead a wholesome life clear of drugs and alcohol.
