Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve significant substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis every day or a few days a week. This is often helpful for those who have recently completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a short history of drug use which is usually a really small amount of clients. For someone with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab programs that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will be the more effective rehab option.
