Hearing impaired individuals generally have an increased likelihood of substance abuse issues because of the impairment, and rehabilitation services have to be at hand which serves their needs. However, drug and alcohol rehabilitation counselors who offer rehab to hearing impaired individuals comprehend the challenges that these clients face. ASL rehabilitation services are definitely a necessity, as are treatment services which address the particular challenges that hearing impaired individuals face. Group therapy provides a venue for important peer support so that treatment clients can know that they are not alone, and that there is hope to handle their challenge with alcohol and drugs. Individual counseling services can be more tailored for each individual so that their own personal challenges can be handled in rehabilitation.
