Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve significant substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services part-time on a daily basis or a few days each week. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed a much more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a really small number of clients. For an individual with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities that provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more effective rehab option.
