Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to take part in rehab services without the commitment you might normally have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve significant substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services part-time daily or several days weekly. This is often helpful for those who have just completed a more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab programs which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial treatment option.
