Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment you might normally have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or several days a week. This is very helpful for many who have recently completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment programs that provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial treatment option.
