TRICARE is medical health insurance which is offered to members of the armed forces of the United States. Drug abuse within the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the necessity to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers many different treatment services to deal with drug and alcohol dependence including detoxification services, along with treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. People with TRICARE will obviously be required to obtain a prior approval before partaking in any sort of rehabilitation service, which may be arranged using a regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program is the preferred treatment option, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in such a facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are particular limits regarding the length of time a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which can be very beneficial, as it can certainly help include family members in the healing and process of recovery.
