A group home for a person who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which provides continual support and assistance for individuals in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. As an alternative to sending those who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home will help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals sustain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in the group home could possibly be getting involved in rehab services while in residence, or could be taking measures to get their life setup outside of the group home to enable them to at one point live independently not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, yet it's a feasible short-term option for those who want to get their lives back together.
