Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which deliver rehab to handle both mental health and addiction issues at the same time. Dual diagnosis is a very common situation for folks involved in drug and alcohol abuse, as individuals with mental health disorders often self medicate with alcohol and drugs to to feel some form of temporary relief from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, treatment counselors can help individuals through a detailed rehabilitation plan all directed at restoring and replenishing mental, physical and emotional health as well as dealing with drug abuse concerns. Providing a safe environment is essential to ensure dual diagnosis clients can feel comfortable and remain free from distraction from things which may cut across their program and progress. Rehab counselors will work to spot environmental factors in the client's life including negative relationships or any other things which need to be addressed in order for the individual to remain mentally stable and sober t when they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral rehabilitation which helps them develop far better coping mechanisms so they are able to better deal with life circumstances more proficiently after they leave dual diagnosis rehab rather than turning to drugs as a possible option.
