LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially unwanted. This may be an extremely tough and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of substance abuse to numb these feelings. Somebody who is LGBT may not feel comfortable within a traditional rehab center amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing within their lives. A LGBT program provides an environment which can be free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which need to be handled to be able to get better. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab can help clients mend relationships with their family members, in case their family disagree with their sexual preference as is generally the case. This circumstance is an extremely frequent trigger for drug use, and it is a good example of something which would be handled in rehab.
