A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a place which provides continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. Instead of sending those who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home may help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in the group home might be getting involved in treatment services during residence, or may be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at one point live independently outside the group home. By way of example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, but it is a feasible short term option for those who want to get their lives back together again.
