Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which provide treatment to handle both addiction and mental health concerns at the same time. Providing a safe environment is key to ensure dual diagnosis clients can be relaxed and remain undistracted from circumstances that may compromise their treatment plan and advancement. Rehabilitation counselors will continue to work to recognize environmental issues in the client's life including negative people in their lives or other things that need to be addressed in order for the individual to be mentally stable and abstinen t once they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral treatment that helps them develop far better coping mechanisms so they are better able to handle life circumstances more proficiently if they leave dual diagnosis rehab rather than returning to drugs and alcohol as a possible option.
