Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab facility. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services part-time on a daily basis or a few days weekly. This is very helpful for many who have recently completed an even more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities which provide treatment on a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehabilitation choice.
