LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the particular needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially depraved. This may be a very difficult and painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug abuse to numb this pain. Somebody who is LGBT may not feel comfortable in a traditional rehabilitation program amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same problems they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment which is totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and treatment counselors issues which must be resolved to be able to recover. Rehab counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients mend relationships with their family members, in case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is often the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug use, which is a good example of a thing that could be resolved in rehabilitation.
