Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days a week. This is helpful for many who have just completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with just a short history of drug use which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehab option.
