A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. Rather than sending individuals who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home may help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals sustain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips 24/7. Residents within a group home may be taking part in rehabilitation services during residence, or could be taking steps to get their life setup outside the group home in order to at one point live on their own outside the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, however it is a viable short-term option for individuals who are attempting to get their lives back together.
