A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continual support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending those who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home may help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability within their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside in a group home could be getting involved in treatment services while in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life set up outside the group home to enable them to at some point live on their own outside of the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a sensible short term option for many who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
