A group home for a person who has been involved in drug abuse is a place which offers continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending those who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals sustain stability in their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in the group home may be getting involved in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life setup outside the group home to enable them to at some point live on their own away from the group home. As an example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or acquire work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a viable temporary option for those who are trying to get their lives back together again.
