A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending individuals who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home can help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability within their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. People who reside in a group home could be taking part in rehab services while in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at some point live on their own outside of the group home. For example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent option, but it is a sensible temporary option for many who want to get their lives back together.
