LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially depraved. This can be a very hard and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug use to alleviate these feelings. Somebody that is LGBT might not feel comfortable in a traditional rehabilitation center amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same challenges they are experiencing of their lives. A LGBT center offers an environment which can be free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely comfortable and safe divulging to their peers and rehab counselors problems which should be handled in order to get better. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family, in the case their family disagree with their sexual preference as is generally the case. This circumstance is an extremely common trigger for abusing drugs, and it is a good example of an issue that would be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often simply want to be accepted within their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and create confidence to enable them to lead a healthy life free of drugs and alcohol.
