Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to take part in treatment services without the commitment you might usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis each day or a few days weekly. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of drug use which is usually a very small amount of clients. For a person with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment programs which provide rehab on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
