Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to take part in treatment services with the same commitment you might normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address significant substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those who choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services part-time daily or a few days weekly. This can be very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a short history of drug use which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation programs that provide rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab choice.
