Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to take part in rehab services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. People who choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis each day or a few days per week. This can be very helpful for those who have just completed a far more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small amount of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment programs which provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehab option.
