A group home for somebody who has been involved in drug abuse is a place which offers continual support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there's also group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending people who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home will help provide an appropriate environment to help sustain stability in their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. Residents in a group home may be getting involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home to enable them to at some point live on their own not in the group home. For example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, yet it's a practical short term option for those who making the effort to get their lives back together.
