Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has proven beneficial in circumstances where standard rehab settings have not meet expectations, like dealing with situations in a women's life which are unique and distressing. Such concerns may pertain to sexual abuse, physical trauma, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, or any other really serious issues which are specific to women. Research shows that women can also get involved in substance abuse more easily than men, and therefore are more vulnerable to sickness because of addiction problems than males as a result. Because of responsibilities in the home, women also tend to put off looking for and receiving treatment, a circumstance which can lead to disaster. That said, treatment services for women are created to ensure a women's needs will be the focus and priority. Similar to coed facilities, drug treatment centers which offer rehabilitation solutions to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a 1st step. Following this step, counselors help women give attention to both basic and gender specific problems who have prompted their drug abuse. Women also utilize the beneficial support from other female peers, and a few facilities which offer treatment services to women also provide client beds for her children.
