TRICARE is medical insurance that is offered to people in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use inside the military is more common than one would imagine, and the need to provide rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers many different rehabilitation services to cope with drug and alcohol dependence such as detoxification services, in addition to treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People who have TRICARE will obviously be asked to have a prior approval before taking part in any sort of rehab service, which may be arranged with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program could be the preferred rehabilitation choice, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in this particular program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits as to how much time a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment that may be very useful, as it may help include family members in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should struggle with this battle alone, and there are professional rehabilitation counselors ready to help today.
