LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and viewed as socially depraved. This is often a very difficult or painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of drug abuse to numb these feelings. Somebody that is LGBT might not exactly feel comfortable inside a traditional rehabilitation facility amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same challenges they are experiencing of their lives. A LGBT program provides an environment which is totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors issues which have to be resolved to enable them to get better. Rehabilitation counselors within a LGBT rehab can help clients repair relationships with their family, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is generally the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for abusing drugs, and is also a good example of a thing that could be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted within their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and create confidence so that they can lead a healthy life free from drugs and alcohol.
