Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis every day or several days each week. This can be very helpful for many who have just completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a very small amount of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities which offer treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective treatment alternative.
