Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which deliver rehab to deal with both addiction and mental health concerns at the same time. Rehabilitation counselors will continue to work to identify environmental issues in the client's life such as negative relationships or other things that must be addressed in order for the individual to be mentally healthy and abstinen t after they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral rehab which helps them develop more efficient coping mechanisms so that they are able to better handle life circumstances better when they depart dual diagnosis rehab as opposed to turning to alcohol and drugs as a possible option.
