A group home for a person who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a place which provides continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. As opposed to sending those who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home will help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals sustain stability within their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. People who reside in a group home may be involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside the group home to be able to at some point live on their own outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, but it's a sensible temporary option for individuals who are attempting to get their lives back together.
