Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehab program. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve significant substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who decide on an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or several days a week. This is often helpful for those who have recently completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a brief history of drug use which is usually a really small amount of clients. For somebody with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers which provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
