TRICARE is health care insurance which is offered to individuals in the military of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the need to offer rehabilitation to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to address alcohol and drug dependence including detox services, and also treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Individuals with TRICARE will naturally have to get a prior authorization before taking part in any type of rehab service, which can be organized using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient facility will be the preferred rehab option, TRICARE covers a three week period or one inpatient stay in that facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits as to how long a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which may be very useful, as it may help include family members in the healing and recovery process. No member of the military should fight this battle alone, and there are skilled rehabilitation counselors ready to help you today.
