Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which deliver treatment to deal with both addiction and mental health concerns concurrently. Dual diagnosis is a very common situation for folks involved in drug and alcohol abuse, as those that have mental health disorders often medicate themselves with drugs and alcohol to experience some sort of short-term respite from their disorder. Treatment counselors will work to recognize environmental issues in the client's life including negative people in their lives or other things that should be addressed in order for the individual to stay mentally healthy and abstinen t when they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral treatment which will help them develop far better coping methods so they are able to better handle life situations better if they leave dual diagnosis rehab rather than turning to drugs and alcohol as a possible option.
